In the Hohe Tauern National Park holiday region there are around 120 alpine pastures where over 7,000 Pinzgau cattle graze and hikers are entertained and pampered. When the dairymen move into their alpine huts at the beginning of June, the alpine summer returns: with its warm sunny days, the fine Pinzgau delicacies, the festivals and long evenings under a starry sky that seems incredibly close at over 1,000 meters above sea level.
